Program 2 - USTH-PhD programs

Program structure for students who enroll between August 1, 2020 and June 30, 2022

The below program structure is defined in the Decision on revising the Regulation of Ph.D. training at Doctoral School, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi no. 353/QĐ-ĐHKHCNHN signed on July 7, 2020, by the USTH Rector. It applies to all students who enroll between August 1, 2020 and June 30, 2022.

Essays	08 ECTS	01 general essay and 03 doctoral thematic essays
Doctoral Courses	12 ECTS (4 courses)	Each Ph.D. student should select 3 courses in the field of his/her Ph.D. research topic and 1 course in a relevant field(s).
Ph.D. thesis	160 ETCS
Publications	compulsory	To submit the Ph.D. thesis, a Ph.D. student must be the main author of at least 02 published/accepted papers, of which at least 1 paper is listed in the ISI-Scopus list.
Doctoral Day	annually	Oral or poster presentation
Progress Report	annually	Written report with approval of supervisor(s)
Midterm Evaluation	compulsory	Oral presentation in front of a committee
Conferences	optional	Ph.D. students are encouraged to participate
Defense	yes	Internal and Final Jury
Other academic activities	optional	Some other academic activities can help Ph.D. students get credits to replace the requirement of the training program.
